Highest Point in Langkawi, Malaysia – Mountain Gunung Raya and visit to Pantai Tanjung Rhu Beach
S1E18 – We continue to explore Langkawi Island!
This morning we jumped on our motorbike and embarked on a new adventure to visit the highest point in Langkawi, mountain Gunung Raya followed by the visit to our favorite beach – Pantai Tanjung Rhu.
Riding up to the mountain on the motorbike might be quite a challenge, especially last 10km from the main highway to the top. Winding road, steep & sharp turns, and in addition sometimes it gets pretty chilly, so make sure u get an extra piece of clothing to keep you warm.
After spending some time at the top of the mountain and visiting a few lookout points, we went back down and drove to Pantai Tanjung Rhu, where we had lunch and spent the rest of our day just lounging under the sun.

CHEAP & DELICIOUS – Night Market. BEST Local Food in Langkawi, Malaysia
S1E17 – Another tasty episode! 😉
There’s no better place to try the best local foods, drinks & sweets than visiting big outdoor market! So here we are at Thursday Night Market in Langkawi, Malaysia. This is by far the best place to get the feel for Malay culture, try some tasty Malaysian dishes and just have a good time!
The prices are super cheap, especially for westerners. We highly recommend to try (our favorite) Murtabak, as well as dessert treats Dorayaki. Make sure to come here early so you don’t miss some of the most popular foods and treats offered. We suggest to get here around 6pm so you get a chance to see this market both, in the day light and at night. Have fun and enjoy mouth watering dishes! 😉

THIS WAS FUN! – Singapore Zoo: Quick visit before flight to Malaysia. Love Eat Travel!
Episode #11 – Nature stop! …literally! ? We are at the Singapore Zoo – The World’s Best Rainforest Zoo. Here are a few tips & facts about this beautiful place from our quick visit before the flight to Malaysia.
It’s Sunday. Our flight to Langkawi is around 4PM. We had some time in the morning, so we’ve decided to check out Singapore Zoo. It took us about half an hour to get from our hotel in Geylang to the zoo. It was just pass 8:30am. There were not too many people around and no lineup at the cashier. Around the ticketing area there are a few food outlets, so if you come hungry there are places you can eat at.
We decided not to waste much time, grabbed our tickets which were $33 per person and went in. At the entrance we were given a map. That helped with the navigation around the zoo as it’s a big place to explore.
From the entrance, the trail splits into two: Rain-forest Walk to the right and Treetop Trail to the left. We decided to start with the treetop trail. We’ve got a chance to see so many interesting animals: Malayan Tapirs, White Tiger, Pygmy Hippos, Alligator Gar, Long-neck Turtles, Capuchin monkey, Baboons, and many more Even though it was 9 in the morning it started to get hot and humid. Thankfully, some of the shelters at the zoo are air conditioned. In this constant heat these are life saviors.
We made a quick stop at the “Elephants of Asia”. There are 2 shows daily, one at 11:30am and the other one at 3:30pm. It was too early so we didn’t get to see the show, but we did catch them running around and doing their elephant thing. There are 3 other shows available: “Animal Friends Show” with domestic animals, “The Rain-forest Fights Back Show” showcasing the wildlife of the rain-forest and “Splash Safari Show” with California sea lion superstar, which we actually got to see.
“Splash Safari Show” is about 40 minutes and it’s a great way to take a break from walking around, just sit back and relax. If you’re not afraid to get wet, you’re more then welcome to take a seat at the front. I’ve decided to play it safe and keep my distance. It was very entertaining to watch. The show involves many funny moments and interaction with visitors.
Our next stop was Primate Kingdom. We spent at least half an hour here as it’s a big place and presents many different species of primates. With the Zoo’s famous open concept, most species have their own island recreating their natural habitat.
Few interesting facts about the zoo:
1. Opened in 1973 with around 300 animals from 70 species
2. Now home to over 2,800 animals representing more than 300 species, 26% of which are endangered
3. Currently receives over 1.7 million visitors a year
4. #1 Zoo in Asia and #5 Zoo overall in the world
5. Impressive size of 26ha, which is the size of 23 football fields, however further plans to expand the Zoo by the year 2020.
EXPLORE & MORE… – Little India & Singapore city suburbs at their best! – Love, Eat, Travel!
Episode #10 – Another beautiful day in Singapore! We walk through suburbs and central city neighbourhoods – Little India & Geylang.
In a few days that we had in Singapore we wanted to get a little bit more of the feel for the city, not only the central of the city and its busy areas, but also the residential complex of Geylang, where we stayed for a few nights.
It’s typical suburbs. Very clean, well taken of and with so many palm trees around sometimes it even feels like you are somewhere in Miami. After our very long and very-very hot day we went back to the hotel to have some rest. We still had a few more places on our list that we wanted to visit so we freshened up a little and went back exploring.
Walking through Little India we passed by so many vendors selling everything, from fresh fruits and vegetables, to clothing & souvenirs. Most memorable to us were the flower stalls. We were impressed with fresh flower garlands made in the best Hindu tradition for the festival season. There are many traditional Indian temples with Shiva at the entrance to welcome you in. The abundance of shoes outside always reminds us of local traditions.
We stopped by an old Chinese colonial building called House of Tan Teng Niah. Its one of its kind left in the area and one of the most colorful buildings in Singapore. We snapped a few pictures and got a move on before the sun sets.
If you are in the mood for some serious shopping visit Mustafa Centre. It’s an enormous shopping mall opened 24 hours a day every day and offering endless variety of souvenirs, electronics and clothing.
We walked through Little India for over 2 hours just appreciating how diverse and colorful this neighborhood is. If you get a chance to visit Little India while in Singapore don’t pass on this opportunity.”

CHEAP & DELICIOUS – Hawker Center: BEST local foods in Singapore!
Episode #9 – Don’t watch it on an empty stomach! This time it is all about FOOD! If you are in Singapore and up for some delicious local food but want to make it cheap & fast, Hawker Center is the place for you!
The food scene in Singapore is very broad and exciting and has something unique to offer to even the most picky eater. However it can get very pricey. Hawker Centre, also known as a Food Center, is widely popular with travelers and locals alike, for the amazing variety of cuisines from all around the world at very approachable prices. There are so many unusual dishes to try and a few days are not enough to explore all the options.
To sample the spectacular array of flavorful dishes we visited Old Airport Road Food Centre two days in a row and got the chance to try Singapore’s popular Steamed and Roasted Chicken with Rice, Rojak Salad, Popia, Sugar Cane Smoothie, Ice Kachang & Bubur Cha Cha to name a few. We also gave a second chance to the Soybean Curd. This time we tried an Almond flavored soybean curd by world wide known brand “Lao Ban Soya Beancurd”.
The selection is endless, so make sure you come with an empty stomach as it is incredibly hard to pass by many stalls without getting curious to try what they have to offer. Enjoy your exciting foodie adventure in Singapore!
